The Dance in Borneo 2.0 to be held on August 30
Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting, said the Dance in Borneo 2.0 serves as a platform to showcase creativity, talent and cultural diversity.
He believes the event could become a signature attraction for Miri, boosting the creative industry and local economy.
The event, co-organised by several youth associations, will be held at the Miri Indoor Stadium on Saturday, August 30. This year’s edition has drawn 27 dance groups, including two from Indonesia and others from Miri, Kuching, Sibu, Sabah and Kuala Lumpur.
Ting said international judges and mentors from South Korea, Thailand and Indonesia, together with professionals from Kuala Lumpur, will ensure fair competition at international standards. The venue can host 2,700 people, with RM80,000 allocated for the sound system alone.
He added that while government support is important, organisers are also seeking private sponsorships to cover costs and have introduced student concession tickets to encourage greater youth and family participation.
