Kota Sentosa Assemblyman, Wilfred Yap champions Proactive Infrastructure Development as Street Lighting RTP Project Reaches 93% Completion

Kota Sentosa Assemblyman Wilfred Yap continues to demonstrate his unwavering commitment to improving community safety and infrastructure with the near-completion of a comprehensive street lighting initiative across his constituency of N12 Kota Sentosa. With 93% of his Rural Transformation Project (RTP) for 2022 under three completed phases, Wilfred Yap conducted a site visit alongside officers from Sarawak Energy Berhad (SESCO) to identify strategic locations for the final phase, utilizing the remaining RM69,184.10 of the RM1 million RTP 2022 funding allocated for this critical initiative.

He said the RTP 2022 street lighting project, designed to enhance road safety, deter crime, and improve quality of life for residents, has been executed in three meticulously planned phases by SESCO:

Phase 1 (RM71,182.00): Completed installations in Kampung Sungai Tapang, Kampung Stutong, Kampung Lubok Buan, Kampung Stampin Baru, and Kampung Stampin BDC, benefiting communities with well-lit public spaces.

Phase 2 (RM237,089.00): Expanded coverage to high-traffic zones, including Jalan Sungai Tapang, Jalan Stakan Batu 7, Jalan Liu Shan Bang, Jalan Semaba, Jalan Stampin Baru BDC, Taman Satria Jaya BDC, Jalan Lapangan Terbang, Taman Hui Sing, Jalan Hup Kee, Jalan Stampin Tengah, Jalan Keteh, Jalan Seladah, and Jalan Kempas.

Phase 3 (RM622,544.99): Prioritized security and accessibility for military personnel and families with installations at Army Camp Penrissen, Army Camp Penrissen Lama, Army Camp Ria, and Army Camp Sebelas Melayu Semenggo.

With RM69,184.10 remaining from the initial RM1 million RTP 2022 allocation, YB Wilfred Yap today joined SESCO officers to finalize plans for the final Phase 4, ensuring every ringgit is optimally utilized to address remaining dark spots and pedestrian safety concerns.

During the site inspection, Yap pointed out that Lighting our streets is not just about infrastructure—it’s about safeguarding our families, boosting nighttime economic activity, and fostering community confidence. This RTP 2022 project reflects Yaps dedication to prioritizing the people’s needs in his constituency of N12 Kota Sentosa.
