Miri welcomes Malaysia ‘s first Velosolutions Pump track
The city of Miri has achieved a new milestone with the launch of the Velosolutions Pump Track, the first of its kind in Malaysia.
Officiated by Piasau State Assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting, the opening marks a significant step forward for the country’s cycling and action sports scene.
Speaking at the launch, Ting expressed his appreciation to Velosolutions, the Miri City Council, and all involved in making the project a reality. He highlighted that the facility is not just a track but a gateway to new opportunities for local riders and the wider community.
“The Velosolutions Pump Track is a world-class facility designed for riders of all levels, from beginners to professionals. It is a place where young enthusiasts can take their first ride, experienced athletes can refine their skills, and communities can come together to celebrate the sport,” he said.
He said that the track would not only boost the cycling culture in Miri but also position Malaysia on the global map for BMX, mountain biking, and urban sports. He added that with the growing popularity of pump track racing worldwide, the new facility has the potential to nurture homegrown athletes capable of competing on international platforms, including the Red Bull UCI Pump Track World Championships.
Beyond sports, Ting noted that the track represents a healthier lifestyle for the youth, encouraging outdoor activities and fostering values such as discipline and resilience. He also highlighted the economic benefits, saying that the facility would attract both local and international riders, boosting tourism and fostering community engagement through events, competitions, and training programs.
“With this track, we hope to ignite a passion for cycling, encourage environmental sustainability, and create a vibrant sports culture that will continue to grow for years to come,” he said.
Concluding his speech, he officially declared the Velosolutions Pump Track in Miri open, encouraging the community to embrace the new facility and the opportunities it brings.
“Let the wheels roll, let the community thrive, and let this be the beginning of something truly extraordinary for Sarawak,” he added.
The Velosolutions Pump Track is expected to serve as a hub for cycling enthusiasts, promoting active lifestyles and competitive sports development in the region.
