Less fortunate receive Raya clothes and school supplies from community leaders
As the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festival approaches, a group of individuals facing hardship has received a heartwarming gesture of kindness.
Thanks to the generosity of community leaders, Kapitan Kueh Kui Hua, Kapitan Dato Philip Hii, Kapitan Bong Ngim Sin and Kapitan Tony Wee, they were each gifted a brand-new Baju Raya to ensure they do not miss out on the celebration. The recipients also received essential items to support their daily needs and education.
This group of people are currently staying at an NGO-run shelter, as they have no place to call home due to unfortunate circumstances. Among them, a family lost its breadwinner when the father/husband was incarcerated for a criminal offense, leaving them in financial distress. Meanwhile, an elderly man had been homeless, previously living under a bridge before finding refuge at the shelter.
During a visit to purchase essential items, two young girls were drawn to school bags. Though this was an unplanned expense, the kind-hearted Kapitans willingly bought them, ensuring the girls had new bags for school.
Another boy received a songkok for school use and a kopia for prayer, while the elderly man was also gifted a kopia, making their upcoming festive season more dignified and meaningful.
Encouragingly, all three children are currently attending school, and the generosity extended to them serves as both material assistance and emotional encouragement. The Kapitans expressed their hope that this small act of kindness would bring warmth to those in need during this festive season and urged society to continue supporting the less fortunate.
