Datuk Sebastian Ting visits Red Crescent Evacuation center

Sarawak Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting, inspected the Red Crescent Temporary Evacuation Center (PPS) on Friday.
The center was established to shelter victims of a recent landslide. During his visit, Ting assessed their conditions, ensured a sufficient food supply, and inspected their living environment.

Currently, the Miri Red Crescent Temporary Evacuation Center houses 105 victims from 25 families.

As the assemblyman for Piasau, Ting assured that the government would continue monitoring the needs of the victims and working closely with relevant agencies to provide necessary assistance, easing their burdens.

He also highlighted the overwhelming support from various sectors of society, including individual philanthropists, non-governmental organizations, community groups, and businesses.

“They have donated food, essential supplies, and daily necessities to the center, bringing warmth to the disaster victims,” he said.

“I sincerely thank all the donors for their generosity and appreciate the tireless efforts of the volunteers. Through collective efforts, we can help the victims navigate this difficult time. This spirit reflects the community’s care and support for those affected.”

Meanwhile, some flood-affected victims have begun returning home to start cleaning up.
