Tourism Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah officiates the Borneo Highland Glamping festival
The Borneo Highlands Glamping Festival 2.0 was officially launched today in a grand ceremony officiated by YB Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak. The event, organized by Borneo Glamping in collaboration with the Borneo Highland Residents Club, brought together outdoor enthusiasts, glamping lovers, and tourists from across the region.
In his opening speech, YB Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah expressed his enthusiasm for the festival, highlighting its alignment with Sarawak’s tourism goals. “Events like the Borneo Highlands Glamping Festival showcase the unique beauty and serenity of Sarawak’s natural landscapes while introducing innovative tourism experiences.
Glamping has the potential to attract a new wave of eco-conscious travelers, and this festival is a step forward in achieving our target of 5 million visitors by 2025,” he said.
He further commended Borneo Glamping and its collaborators for their efforts in organizing such a vibrant and well-received event, which has gathered more than 250 tents with participants from 10 different nationalities, including visitors from West Malaysia and Singapore.
Also present was Batu Kitang State Assemblyman, Dato IR Lo Khere Chiang, who emphasized the significance of the Borneo Highlands as a natural treasure. “The Highlands is one of Sarawak’s hidden gems. It is heartening to see it come alive with events like this that celebrate nature while fostering eco-tourism and community spirit,” he remarked.
The Borneo Highlands Glamping Festival 2.0 is part of Borneo Glamping’s larger vision to develop glamping as a sustainable and attractive tourism product. Featuring a blend of outdoor activities, cultural experiences, and breathtaking scenery, the festival is poised to become a key attraction for both local and international travelers.
