Datuk Sebastian Ting handed over two cheques to St Columba School board Chairman Mr Simon ilus

State Assemblyman for Piasau, Datuk Sebastian Ting handed over cheques to SMK St Columba and SK St Columba, Miri from UNIFOR.

During the handover, Ting disclosed that a total of RM 190,000 was handed to SMK St Columba and RM 120,000 to SK St Columba.

Ting urged the recipients to bank in the cheque fast as the cheques are valid for only three months. Both the two cheques were issued in June this year. He cited examples that some organisations forgot to bank in the cheques and it took them a few more months to re-apply.

He said when they used the money for building facilities, he advised them to give UNIFOR a report. So that if there is not enough to cover their expenses, they can apply again.

Ting thanked the GPS government for giving such allocation to the non Muslim religion. He believed this is the only state in Malaysia where the State government did so.

Under UNIFOR a sum of RM110 million was allocated annually and RM20 million per year was allocated for missions schools and churches.
