Win all 31 seats to keep Sarawak strong, says Sim Kiang Chiok

Sarawak needs to consolidate votes and win all 31 seats in Parliament to keep Sarawak strong and formidable, said Dato’ Sim Kheng Chiok.

Speaking at the Sarawak United peoples’ party (SUPP) Stakan Branch Annual General Meeting cum 2021 Anniversary Celebrations, Sim said in the last general election, Sarawak won 19 seats and with one defection was left with 18. He pointed out that Malaya is now consolidating and finding new alliances and, we in Sarawak must make sure we have 31 seats to count on because it will strengthen our value and also allow Abang Jo to continue and get back all our eroded rights for us.

He believed that with 31 seats Sarawak government will be in a strong bargaining position and be able to ensure Sarawak will not be left behind in any development agenda.

As Chairman of Stakan branch, Sim said their primary role is to be of service to our demographics/area as much as they can in support of their leaders and partners from PBB and YB Lo Khere Chiang and YB Wilfred Yap whose borders correspond with Stakan.

“When Stakan was set up, we decided early that we wanted to be able to help our demographics/area. So in Stakan most of the non-bumi are business people from various fields and we started our service in Stakan on an awareness campaign for micro loans that were available to non bumis in cooperation with the Kuching-Kota Samarahan Hawkers and Small Traders Association. We also distributed the bumiputra loan forms to our bumiputra friends and members so that they can choose to apply should they need to or pass it along to a friend who may need it. Our goal then was to break the ice with the locals,” he added.

Sim said there are a number of GPS policies that were launched to benefit people from all walks of life. These policies help us reach all age groups and bring us closer to the baby boomers of this millennial generation, the youth and the elderly.

We, he added, in SUPP Stakan believed that we will continue to create more awareness on all these policies so that we will all be victorious come the next General Elections elections.
