Recently, Datuk Seri Wang Junaidi, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Legal Affairs) from GPS, proposed (Amendments) Bill to allow more rights belonging to Sarawak in the 1963 Federal Constitution in Parliament, and received unanimous support and the Bill was passed.

This symbolizes that Sarawak and Sabah have reached a new milestone in our struggle to restore the status of equal partners in participating Malaysia. This is a historic moment for us in Sarawak, “he said.

Sarawak’s struggle to reclaim its rights will not stop here, he assured and said Sarawak needs to translate the results of successful constitutional amendments into practical actions to ensure that the federal government treats Sarawak fairly and reasonably, especially by allocating sufficient development funds to allow Sarawak to catch up with the pace of development, so that the people of Sarawak can truly feel the need to be an equal partner to enjoy the treatment.

All these efforts, he said, required all Sarawakians to stay united and with a strong backing from the Sarawak government, the end results of the struggle will usher in a more prosperous and progressive era for Sarawakians. With the good governance and far-sighted planning from our leaders in GPS, Sarawak’s future will definitely be better.
