More Bumi in SJKC Bako Chinese schools, says Dr. Sim Kui Hian
One hundred and eighty-eight pioneering pupils started classes in SJKC Bako in Samarahan Friday, which was not in operation for more than 10 years.
Assemblyman for Batu Kawa, Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian who visited the new school with Federation of Chinese School Board, Jonathan Chai said the school has population of 60% Bumi, 30% Chinese and mixed 10 percent, which shows a true Sarawak where all race and religion can live together in harmony.
Although the Federal Government paid for the teachers and annual grants for maintenance of all Chinese Primary Schools in Sarawak, Dr sim a said the school board is responsible for rebuilding of dilapidated classrooms or additional school facilities, .
He added that during the opening of this primary school last year, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari gave out RM8,000,000 for 12 Chinese Primary schools in Sarawak to help for rebuilding of dilapidated classrooms.
“This is in addition to the annual grant to 14 Chinese Middle Schools (RM9,000,000 for 2020) since 2014 by late Chief Minister Adenan Satem.For 2021, CM had approved the Chinese School Unit under me which included Chinese Middle (Secondary) Schools RM10,000,000, Chinese Primary Schools RM10,000,000 (rebuilding only as Federal still funding the teachers and running cost)” he added.
Dr Sim said only through Education will it change the destiny of individual as well as the country.
