Comprehensive flood mitigation for Desa Wira

A comprehensive flood mitigation project for Batu Kawah Desa Wira residential area will start works by september.

This project which being approved under 12 Malaysia Plan and costs Rm 120 million will see the upgrading of drainage system from Desa Wira until Sungai Maong’s main drain.

This will costs Rm 29 million in phase 1, which is currently under tender process. Under this project, all of the mansoon drain at the residential area will be upgraded and enlarged, and those low-lying road area will be filled high to ensure the consistant of drain water flow and no stagnant water at the area.

The first open tender will be on July 2020 and rest of the tender will be rolled out in the next 3 months progressively.

Minister of Local Government & Housing Sarawak Dato Sri Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian said that Desa Wira needs this comprehensive flood mitigation project to solve the long term flood problem and he gratified that it has been approved and works will start soon.

DID Sarawak director Datu Chok Moi Soon briefed Dr. Sim on the mitigation project on yesterday’s site visits.
