Decision to reduce land premium
A total of 7,174 land titles would be affected with refund payment amounting to RM43,447,264 after the state government’s decision to reduce land premium for all resettlement and village extension schemes in the state by 50 per cent, said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, who pointed out that the refund is payable only to lots belonging to the original land owner; lots transferred to beneficiaries/holder of Letter of Administration; and lots transferred by way of love and affection among immediate family members.
Chief Minister Abang Jo, speaking recently to reporters at a function, pointed out that the refund of excess land premium shall not apply to lots transferred by sales and purchaseand for refund, he said land owners are required to fill and submit their application to the Land and Survey Department no later than October 31, 2019.
He added that the state government is committed to ensuring that the reduction is duly implemented for the benefits of low-income groups in Sarawak and the decision to reduce the premium by half is to assist the rakyat to mitigate the rising cost of living.
