Dewan Debate YB Lo Khere Chiang on Oil mining

Honourable Datuk Amar Speaker,

Thank you for the opportunity to debate on The Oil Mining (Amendment) Ordinance (OMO) 2018.

I wish to congratulate the minister for Urban Development and Natural Resources for tabling the Oil Mining (Amendment) Ordinance (OMO) 2018.

The proposed amendment of this bill reinforces the privileges of Sarawak’s position on the exploitation of our own oil resources.

All along, Sarawak’s position on OMO1958 is known to everyone, in and outside Sarawak.

With the proposed amendment today, we are now a step nearer to gaining financial independence for Sarawak as oil is a major source of income. These rights have been mooted by our late Tok Nan and pursued vigilantly by our Honourable Chief Minister.

I am sad to hear that our Honourable member of Padungan this morning is not in tandem with the state in pursuing this rights, let me remind our PH friends in Sarawak, that today PH has 132 seats plus 56 seats in Sarawak and Sabah, we can amend any bill in Parliament, and so i would encourage all of us to work together, PH Sarawak and GPS for the benefit of our people in Sarawak and the future of our people.
