YB Lo: DAP should give constructive criticism
MPP Chairman YB Lo Khere Chiang advised DAP Abdul Aziz Isa to check his facts before criticizing the council to attain his own political mileage complaining on the traffic lights in Mile 7/8. Is it too confusing for Aziz to act as a ruling coalition who can give constructive criticism instead of still acting like an opposition rogue who oppose for the sake of opposing?
In the case of mile 7/8, the planning and approval of this traffic lights came under the State Planning Authority and JKR and not by MPP. The government of the day cannot stop development on both sides of the road. With development comes more roads and buildings, people and traffic jams. Aziz will be very narrow minded if he believes that the opening of the new traffic light will be the root cause of the problem in the area, especially when there are already underlying traffic problems there.
With regards to these underlying problems, the State government has already identified such problems, hence a flyover has already been proposed for Mile 7 and is anticipated to be completed in 3 years time. This mile 7 flyover along with the other flyovers at Mile 4,6, and 10 when completed, will ease traffic jams and provide a smoother flow of traffic to Serian.
DAP should look at the bigger picture before blindly attacking the State government by politicking/disregarding all the past efforts by our State government to address the traffic congestion that the people have suffered for so long.
On the issue of Semaba exiting Stephen Yong Junction, this has been brought up to the authorities at JKR and they are in the process of studying and planning the feasibility of providing a traffic light system thereat.
“Instead of creating unnecessary tension among the public, we should work together to secure adequate Federal funding for developments for the benefit of Sarawakians. Do not abuse the chance that the Rakyat grants you. I wish to advise Aziz that he is part of the federal government. The Sarawak government has pledged to work for the betterment of Sarawakians as a friendly PH party at the federal level. Aziz should view all these positively.”
