Dr Sim back to work
Minister of Local government and Housing, Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian went through his paperwork during the Friday long lunch break at the SUPP Hq after a busy morning at the Minister’s Office.
He said he would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank party members for their dedication, hard work and tireless support to our party candidates in the recent election. While the results are not what we had hope, nonetheless, this is the inevitable part of a functioning democracy, where sometime we win, and sometime we lose.
“This election is one of many elections to come for our party. If you look at our party’s history, it is not the first time that we are in the opposition. The last time when SUPP was an opposition party, it preceded a great success in the following election. What remains true is this: we have always believed that it is Sarawak for Sarawakians and that we will continue to uphold Sarawak rights for our fellow Sarawakians.
Our mission to protect Sarawak rights now is as critical as ever: West Malaysian parties are now representing us in Parliament. We must be the guardian and champion for the Sarawak people, less we fall back to the times of the 1980s and 1990s where we saw an erosion of rights, to which, until today we are still in the process of recovering”, he added.
So let us, he said, renew our commitment and focus to our mission in the coming weeks and months: so that we may be the ears and eyes of Sarawak as we navigate into the next chapter of history of Sarawak in Malaysia.
