A message from Barisan candidate for P.195 Bandar Kuching

1. Everyone in Kuching, friends, folks, social media friends, the media, all Party comrades, volunteers, a very good morning to you all. I am Kho Teck Wan. I am standing as Barisan Nasional candidate for the P.195 Bandar Kuching parliamentary seat.

2. As a councilor, I began to actively serving the community. I started my campaign visiting since the nomination days and tried my best to visit every rakyat. I cherish every moment meeting with you, every handshake, every encouragement, and most importantly listening to all your request. I will definitely try to solve them. Although this is an uphill battle, I feel that I must step forward and offer the voters of Bandar Kuching a choice. I want to realize the vision of making Kuching a Digital City, creating more employment opportunities and revitalizing the economy. I want to solve the floods problem in Bandar Kuching. I want to bring medical services to poor people. I want see more women to stand up to their rights. I want women to be independent and improve their status. I want women rights to be protected. I am sure that I am not alone in pushing for the women rights; in fact this is something that the Bandar Kuching people want also.

3. I believe that in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural country, only through harmonious coexistence can create a beautiful happiness. We reject any foreign radical ideas designed to divide our people and refuse to use hatred as a tool to influence the people and the next generation. When everyone keeps arguing and complaining, it will affected the rationality of our judgments, and even preventing our way forward. Therefore, it is with great hope that our harmonious society will not be easily knocked down. I know this is a difficult battle, but for the sake of the future, for the next generation I will continue to move forward. Do our best to protect this home!

4. The Opposition party, as a Member of Parliament, has never been able to solve the basic problems and fulfill the needs of the people in the past 14 years. Their commitment to the Kuching voters is futile. Maybe that is also why they do not have a manifesto for the Bandar Kuching seat because they are not planning to do anything for Bandar Kuching except spewing hatred and lies from their Malayan party masters to confuse us. They have nothing to offer to Bandar Kuching. Is this what we want?

5. Two years ago, under the leadership of the late Chief Minister Adenan Satem and his team, we let the Federal government see the Sarawakian’s unity and Sarawakian’s determination to strive for autonomy. The people of Sarawak, we want to continue this Autonomy Movement, assist the Sarawak Barisan Nasional and the local party led by Chief Minister Abang Johari to continue to pressure the Federal government to bring all the Sarawak’s autonomy back.

6. Chief Minister Abang Johari’s team has a perfect agenda for Sarawak to move toward full autonomy. Regardless of how the situation in the country changes, Sarawak Barisan Nasional must not have less than 31 Parliamentary seats. Sarawak Barisan Nasional will continue to strive for the full autonomy no matter the outcome of the GE14.

7. Even though SUPP in the past few years has suffered repeated setbacks in the elections, our old party members still stood by us, those who did not leave the Party, and young friends who are brave enough to express our support. Thank you for the positive energy you gave us. Thank you for continue trustingin us.

8. Many people have told us that the SUPP had made a mistake and the Sarawak Barisan Nasional is weak. These criticisms and people’s expectations on us,push us to work even harder to serve the people. We will turn these into strength and pushing for change. Be more active in listening to the people’s voices andservice of the people sincerely. From its establishment to the present day, SUPP has always in the forefront defending the sovereignty of Sarawak and fighting to create a fair and just society. Please continue to support us, continue to encourage us, continue to work us, and let us complete this mission together.

9. Your confidence in me also made me more determined to speak in the Parliament, so that the voice of the Bandar Kuching people can be heard andalso our demands to be fulfilled. I promised that if I win the election, I will table Private Member Bill within 100 days to increase the Sarawak’s parliamentary seat ratio in the Parliament. According to the provisions in the Malaysia Agreement 1963, Sarawak and Sabah will be allocated one-thirds of the total seats in the Parliament.

10. On the 9th of May, I appeal everyone to come out and vote. Vote for the person you trust and vote for the person who is capable and able to serve you for the next 5 years. Bandar Kuching people, I really need your vote. Every single vote counts. Vote Candidate No.1, Kho Teck Wan. Every vote represents a step toward Sarawak’s autonomy. Every vote is a step toward a more prosperous and beautiful Bandar Kuching.

Thank you all, everyone worked hard. Stronger Kuching, Stronger Women.
