CM: Barisan confident in recapturing Miri seat
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is confident that Miri parliamentary seat will be recaptured by supp.
He said for the sake of Miriams and their future, Miri parliamentary seat needs to be won by SUPP/BN.
Abang Jo added that with BN’s support, the huge potential of the oil and gas industry here can be developed as well as generating Miri’s overall economic development.
He said at a Chinese New Year dinner organised by the Sarawak United people’s Party (SUPP) Miri last night, while commending SUPP and SUPP president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian for restoring the people’s confidence in the party’s capability and leadership.
Miri was a former BN stronghold until it was lost to the Opposition in the 2013 general election. The current Miri MP is PKR Miri chairman Dr Michael Teo.
The chief minister pointed that Sarawak does not need outsiders to fight for their rights as the four component parties in the State BN are like a family and are capable of protecting Sarawak.
