Strong mandate for new CM

The Balingian by-election landslide win of a majority of 6,911 win is the strongest sign of a mandate and confidence for the Barisan Nasional (BN) Sarawak helmed by new Chief Minister, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem.

SUPP Publicity Chief, Dato’ Sebastian Ting said the voters in Mukah have taken the words of Adenan to heart and showed their support to him by voting in the BN candidate Yussibnosh in a bigger majority even in town area where losses in a station was 103 in the last election but this time BN has won 118.

Yussibnosh garnered 8,194 votes while PKR Abdul Jalil Bujang managed 1,283 votes on polling day March 29th.

Adenan who had spoken at the victory night said from polling stations shown, the Chinese have returned to the fold of BN and said it was a special victory for him.

Ting said since Adenan took over the Chief Minister post on March 1st, he (CM) has pressed all the right buttons on the concerns of Sarawakians. As Chief Minister, he has boldly said that he will speak out on the Malaysia Agreement on where oil royalty is concerned. He said he would try to ask for an increase of 5% to 20% which he said would be a discussion held on the matter with Federal leaders.

Adenan has also assured the Christian population that there will be no curb on the usage of the word Allah as long as he is the Chief Minister, He said Sarawak will not follow any States in the Peninsula for curbing the use of word Allah for Christians as there is no law in Sarawak that restricts their use of the word Allah in their prayers.

As a fair leader, Ting said Adenan expressed his concern for Chinese Education by donating RM100,000 to the additional of RM300,000 donated by the Prime Minister for the maintenance of Choon Boon Primary school of which 30% of the pupils are Bumiputera.

Ting pointed out that Adenan has also wisely and jealously guarded the only autonomy that the state has which was our rights over immigration and border controls. He had openly said it a few times that he would ban all racists, bigots and troublemakers from the peninsula from entering Sarawak and would even deport them if it were necessary to do so – all for the peace, security and harmony of Sarawakian.

“It is indeed comforting that we have such a Chief Minister who is guarding our rights and autonomy for the sake of Sarawakians. He has shown that his interest lies in safeguarding his own people and he even said he would not want UMNO in Sarawak as Sarawak-based BN component parties are capable of running Sarawak the way they saw fit.

During the campaigning, he too give his speech partly in Hokkien urging the urban voters to give him a chance. That is why the people of Mukah is responding and giving their golden opportunity to work with the new Chief Minister by voting in Yussibnosh as he, the CM has earlier asked the voters to give him a chance to work with him,” said Ting.

He said SUPP, formed in 1959, has always been clear on their stand in working with the BN and would continue doing so.

Ting and SUPP leaders who had also been campaigning hard for the BN candidate since Day One said the feel good factor originate from Mukah and he hoped that it would spread to the rest of Sarawak in future elections.

He firmly believed that with such sincerity from a Chief Minister, the people would bond and warm to him by giving him the mandate he seek from all races and religion.
