Cultural exchange program with Yantai

The Chinese Government will host 30 youths from Padawan Council to visit Yantai for a cultural exchange program, said Chi Ruo Wei, Associated Consultant of the Foreign Affairs and Overseas Chinese Affairs office of Yantai Municipal People’s government.

Speaking at the MOU signing between MPP Chairman, Lo Khere Chiang and Chi yesterday morning, Chi who led a 6 men delegate to Sarawak said he is impressed with the natural beauty, multi-racial and the great hospitality he experienced the last two days.

He said  Yantai is a city by the sea with a population of 7million people and an area of 13700 KM. The province is more on sea produce processing, light and heavy industry and food processing. Chi said he was amazed by the space and area of Sarawak.

He also hoped that besides exchanging of culture, he would like to have school teachers from Yantai to come over to Sarawak for a familiarization teaching stint.

“Both of us have lots to offer in term of tourism and he hoped that by next trip, he will bring along tour agents to Sarawak to let the Sarawakians know more about Yantai.

Earlier on, Lo who is also the Batu Kitang state Assemblyman said he was touched by the hospitality of what the Chinese Government has to offer. He said the Council has brought the delegates to visit places of interest in Kuching especially the Waterfront.

Lo said he hoped that by next year, they would make a trip to Yantai for a cultural exchange.

Sarawak, he said, has a lot to offer and he is willing to sell Sarawak to Yantai.
