Reclaim Sarawak Rights

Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri Dr. James Masing Jemut hoped that the Opposition party will support the Sarawak Barisan Nasional in the tabling of the bill to reclaim Sarawak rights as enshrined in MA63 is timely.

He said for over 53 years, Sarawak has been shortchanged by Malaya and it is more than enough.” We cannot and should not take it anymore. With the tabling of this bill it will ‘wake up’ putrajaya of our rights,” said who is also the Minister of Infrastructure Development and Transportation and the President of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS).

Sarawak Chief Minister Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem said yesterday that the state government will table a motion at the State Legislative Assembly sitting next month on reclaiming Sarawak’s rights.

Adenan said the motion would specifically focus on the need for the federal government to observe Sarawak rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), The Inter-Government Committee Report (IGC) 1963 and the Cobbold Commission Report 1962.

“The motion will be tabled by one of the (state) ministers,” he told reporters after opening Parti Rakyat Sarawak’s (PRS) 4th Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC) in Bintulu on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Local government Minister, Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian said current YB from Sarawak be it YB Members of Parliament of Malaysia or YB Dewan Udangan Sarawak must consistently and same message in both Houses (Parliament and DUN Sarawak). “Apart from supporting this motion in DUN Sarawak sitting in Nov, I will speak on this topic in Senate sitting in Malaysia Parliament in Dec, conveying the voices of Sarawakians. This is what SUPP under me will work closely hand in hand to get back Sarawak right,” he added.
