Formation of “Sarawak Autonomy and Devolution of Powers” working committee
SUPP president Senator Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian said the “Sarawak Autonomy and Devolution of Powers” working committee has been formed and will conduct an in-depth study on the Malaysia Agreement 1963, the Inter-Governmental Committee (IGC) Report, the Cobbold Commission Report and other relevant provisions in the Federal Constitution.
He pointed out that this committee will come up with recommendations and input for Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem to help him strengthen his negotiations with the federal government,
Speaking to reporters at the DUN, Dr. Sim who is also the Local government Minister said the committee will be led by party vice-president Datuk Lee Kim Shin and will include as members legal experts and historians well-versed in Malaysian history.
He added that Adenan, who became chief minister in February 2014, deserves the support of all Sarawakians in his negotiation with Putrajaya on the reclamation of Sarawak’s rights.
