许德婉：重大课题可由公投决定
砂人联党妇女组主席许德婉同意山都望区国会议员拿督斯里旺朱乃迪的观点，即联邦政府应制定法律允许公投，让公民在影响他们的重大课题上有发表意见的权力。 她认为，退出马来西亚、同性恋权益、甚至最低结婚年龄等问题都可以通过全民公投来决定。 “许多示威和骚乱是因为市民认为政府没有听取他们的意见而引起的，而公投可以让人民拥有改变政策和社会问题的决定权。全民公投让人民和代议士分享治国的责任。” 她表示，话虽如此，在通过全民公投之前，公投法案应由所有立法者和立法机构认真起草和审查。 许德婉强调，在进行全民投票之前，需要对全民投票的特定主题进行广泛的教育。 “这是一个昂贵的过程，而且绝对不是一个容易的过程，但是我认为是时候我们制定公投法律了。”
