Datuk Sebastian Ting’s Sarawak Independence Day message
1. Like many of you, I am looking forward on spending this weekend with my family celebrating the birth of our nation, Sarawak. The celebration is not complete without activities such as marches, parade, organized runs and road shows. 2. As much as we enjoyed the activities, it is also the time of the year that we express gratitude for our many blessings and giving tribute to the many brave nationalists that had directly or indirectly contributed to the struggle of Sarawak in achieving its Independence. 3. Sarawak Independent Day allows Sarawakians to appreciate Sarawak
For too long Sarawak was made “invisible” when perceived as being one of the 13 states in Malaysia, instead of being one of three founding states to the federation of Malaysia which had consistently been the biggest contributor to the national coffer since 1963. Michael Tiang is therefore of the opinion that July 22 gazetted by Sarawak Government to be Sarawak Independent Day in 2016 was a monumental step that allows Sarawakians to appreciate Sarawak is in fact a sovereign state in the federation of Malaysia. Sarawak is a sovereign state that owns territorial boundaries and waters as wellRead More
Datuk Sebastian – federal government giving 20% royalty from profits disappointing
Regarding Prime Minister Tun Mahathir said the federal government will giving 20% of the oil and gas royalty to Sarawak from the profits of Petronas, Datuk Sebastian Ting believes the announcement have a big difference with Pakatan Harapan Manifesto. He said PH promised will give 20% royalty to Sarawak and Sabah during the GE, however they dint mentioned the royalty will allocate from Petronas profit.
