陈开：人联党致力维护砂州权益
砂人联党青年团总团长陈开强调，该党的其中一项责任就是确保砂州在马来西亚内的权益能获得保障。 他说，自从人联党创立以来，就致力于维护砂州权益。 “我们全力支持首席部长丹斯里阿德南沙登争取砂州应得的权益，包括向联邦政府要求20%副石油与天然气开采税。这也是人联党希望为砂州人民争取的。” 陈开在针对916马来西亚日发表感言时，强调人联党希望确保马来西亚维持稳定及经济稳健成长。 他表示，若我国可以维持稳定的发展，那么砂州人民也会受惠。
陈超耀欢迎首相重视砂沙的声明
砂人联党中央秘书长拿督陈超耀表示，首相拿督斯里纳吉强调每年8月31日国庆日及每年9月16日马来西亚日具有同等的重要地位，是符合情理的。 他说，首相纳吉于今年916马来西亚日庆典致词时，重申政府会给予国庆日及马来西亚日同等的重视。 他指出，纳吉担任首相后，对于马来西亚日极为重视，甚至宣布这一天为全国公共假期。同时，纳吉也认同砂拉越及沙巴是马来西亚的重要伙伴，并强调会重视砂沙的发展需要。 “首相纳吉在致词时，举出美国为例，指该国在1776年7月4日成立时，只有13州，不过随后增加至50州。尽管如此，美国迄今还是认定7月4日为独立日。” 陈超耀认为，若砂州继续在马来西亚保持重要的地位，这可缔造双赢的局面。 他说，马来西亚是个多元种族与文化互相尊重的国土，这种精神必须获得维护。
