Tiong King Sing statement on Peter Nansian
The MP for Bintulu cum the special envoy to Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing JP expressed regret and shock at the press statement given by Dato Peter Nansian Assistant Minister of Community Development who claimed to be “part and parcel” or member of Barisan Nasional (BN).
Tiong when contacted said Nansian should remember how he openly supported an independent candidate during the General Election in Mas Gading constituency.
“Although I may be a bit old my memory is still clear on how he urged the voters to support, campaign for the independent candidate instead of SPDP candidate under the BN ticket. Thank God we retained our seat but I must say someone has forgotten what he did and even today dare to say he is talking due to the concern of the BN component party interest,” said Tiong.
Tiong stressed that as long as the party (SPDP) is concerned, Nansian is neither a member of BN nor SPDP, judging for what he had done during the past election for going against BN’s candidate.
“Isn’t he the one who support a group for having an interest in the Chief Minister post,” he added.
Tiong stressed a Minister’s position should be responsible in carrying out its duty and not expect other cabinet leaders to answer for their doing. Whichever Ministry post you are in, you should be answerable to that department.
“If such ministry only serves as secretariat, without its own autonomy or right to decide on the conferred matter, then such ministery should be abolished as it doesn’t serve the purpose at all” said Tiong.
The rationale of giving the local assemblymen (representatives) or G5 priority to recommend someone as councilors to strengthen the local government is not right as only SPDP leaders know who can work together in serving the people better, especially in the run-up to the next state election.
Tiong pointed out that one should bear in mind that both constituencies (Mas Gading and Baram) are now under SPDP’s MPs, yet why was the proposed lists for councilor, community leaders turned down and other non-SPDP list was in?
“One should be shameful why someone claimed that the group of G5 does not interfere with the appointment of councillors in other council, apart from councils in their own respective area. Don’t make me reveal more for what you all have done. And for those who lobby candidates for others, tell Sarawakian and Malaysians your motive – it’s all for your personal gain,” Tiong said.
Tiong reminded Nansian that his “comment of a Minister playing dictatorship” was voiced out by the general public and he was merely delivering that message for the sake of the people.
As long as the SPDP is concerned, he stressed that in the coming election, only party members will be proposed and fielded in all 8 state constituencies.
“We will strongly opposed any non-party candidate to be fielded and our principal and resolution achieved unanimously via our party assembly meeting shall be retained”
