SUPP won Sibu shop houses case
Secretary General of Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Datuk Sebastian Ting welcomed the Sibu High Court judge on the decision of the three shophouses issue where Twinswood Sdn Bhd was ordered to transfer the ownership to SUPP.
Ting who is also the Piasau State Assemblyman said he is happy with the decision and even though he is not in Sibu, he shared the joy of his party members in Sibu
This, he added, was due to the untiring efforts put in by SUPP Sibu branches leaders, Robert Lau, Clarence Ting, Chieng Boon Tong, Wong Chin Yong and Benson Chua. He thanked the team of lawyers and members who had never wavered their loyalty to the party and the dozens of witnesses, including Puan Sri Dr Jane, who came forward to put right the decision.
“I must thank the late former party President, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. Wong Soon Kai for his leadership in Sibu all those years and even before his passing , he told his beloved wife, Puan Sri Dr Jane that his last wish would be to see the three shophouses be returned to SUPP,” said Ting.
Twinswood filed the appeal against a Sibu High court decision in March 11 last year after a High court ordered a private company Twinswood Sdn Bhd to be transferred the three shophouse to SUPP on August 2015.
The properties at Kpg Datu namely Lot number 2091,1292 and 1293 had been registered under the name of a private limited company, Twinswood Sdn Bhd with 50 shareholders since 1988. These shareholders were all previously SUPP members.
Robert Lau, Bawang Assan Chairman said he was thankful for the decision made by the Court. He said there were many witnesses who came forward to give their evidences and members who came to the Court whenever there is a trial on.
Lau said the legal suit was taken to ensure that the shophouses which housed the Sibu SUPP headquarters is for the senior party members and the members who stayed loyal to the party.
