Drumming up support in Sarikei

Members of the Youth section of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Sarikei branch have gone to the ground to drum up the people’s support for the party.

Political secretary to chief minister Teng Ung Woo, who is leading the group, said this is one of their activities aimed at strengthening the party’s support base.

The activity is being intensified in anticipation of the general election which could be called at any time this year or the next, he said, adding that with good road connectivity, they have been able to cover a few longhouses in Repok constituency in just one day.

“On Sunday, we managed to revisit Rumah Jugah, Rumah Rambai, Rumah Banun, Rumah Jawa, Rumah Bansa, Rumah Sabah, Rumah Ugil and Rumah Lingga,” Teng said.

The objective is to drum up support to ensure victory for Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates in the next general election, he added.

Teng said it would be up to the top BN leadership to pick the candidate for Sarikei.

Teng is among three people named as the potential candidate, proposed by SUPP Sarikei. Two others are proposed by SUPP Bintangor branch.
