Drag racing at Demak Laut

Drag racing is a type of motor racing in which automobiles (usually prepared for the purpose) compete two at a time to be first to cross a set finish line. The race follows a short straight course from a standing start over a distance of 402 metres.

The Sarawak Drag Challenge 2015,  sanctioned by Sarawak Automotive Racing Sport Association (SARSA) was recently held at Demak laut Industrial Park. The Challenge attracted more than 85 participants from Brunei, Sabah, Miri, Sibu and Kuching to compete in the event.

There were 12 categories involved for the competitors to demonstrate their ability and skills in show casing their modified vehicle’s speed. About 3,000 spectators turned up to witness the competition.

The adviser to SARSA, Cr Wilfred Yap was invited to witness the event and give away prizes for some of the winners.
