600 SPM Candidates from Batu Kawa Attend Two-Day Examination Preparation Camp

A total of 600 students residing in the Batu Kawa constituency who will be sitting for the upcoming Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination recently participated in a two-day examination preparation camp aimed at helping them better master examination techniques.

Batu Kawa assemblyman Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian introduced the programme in 2024 to equip SPM candidates with effective study and examination skills, enabling them to achieve outstanding results.

The camp was held at the Hong Ching Ho Multi-Purpose Hall in Batu Kawa, where several experienced lecturers were invited to provide guidance on examination strategies and other important aspects of SPM preparation.

The 600 participants included students from the three secondary schools in the Batu Kawa constituency—Min Lit Secondary School, SMK Batu Kawa and SMK Jalan Arang—as well as other SPM candidates residing in Batu Kawa but studying at schools outside the constituency.

Dr Sim said he was pleased that the programme was successfully organised again this year and thanked school principals, teachers and parents for their cooperation and support.

“The SPM is one of the most important qualifications in Malaysia. It plays a vital role in determining students’ opportunities for further education and future careers. I hope every candidate will perform well and achieve excellent results,” he said.

He also expressed pride that Sarawakian students have consistently achieved outstanding results in the SPM examinations over the years, including many students from the Batu Kawa area.

Dr Sim noted that the Sarawak Government places great emphasis on education and talent development. While some students in the past faced financial difficulties that affected their chances of pursuing higher education, he said the state government now offers a wide range of assistance, including free tertiary education, scholarships and study loans, computers, and even living allowances.

“Financial constraints should no longer be a barrier preventing students from pursuing higher education.

“The success of Sarawak’s nation-building depends on quality education, which will continue to produce outstanding talents. Let us work together to ensure Sarawak achieves even greater success in the future,” he said.
