Uproar over ‘holy water’ used to treat covid

The recent suggested prescription by Kelantan Local Government and Health Deputy Exco, Hilmi Abdullah, to use “holy water” to treat Covid infection, including the “bathing treatment” with “holy water”, has brought about an uproar in social media. This insanity in mindset has also painted a not so nice picture on whatever platform he was coming from. A mere personal publicity campaign that has gone wrong, said Organising Secretary SUPP Batu Kitang Branch, Gerald Goh.

Goh pointed out that the world is facing the threat of the new pandemic are still actively developing and using vaccines in clinical trials.
“Professional and scientific interventions to curb the threat of coronavirus on human are constantly in progress. Although we cannot prevent individuals from using their own beliefs or other folk methods as their treatment for coronavirus, unproven method of treatment or prevention, so to speak must not be publicized, definitely not from the desk of a Health Deputy Exco, let alone guiding the people to follow and use. This is a very a dangerous and immoral behavior, ” he said.

Before the government actually announce on the use of vaccines for the people, Goh believed that everyone should strictly observe the SOPs approved by the authority concerned as a prevention and to curb the spread of Covid 19 virus, that is, wear masks, avoid going to crowded places, wash hands frequently, stay at home or observe strict social distancing and nothing else. If you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately.

He called on to those in authority to address the people on the correct and effective pandemic prevention procedures, instead of making ridiculous remarks for personal gains as Malaysia do not need another coconut gimmick to help flatten the curve.
