Poor workmanship on concrete drains at Kong Phin Road

SUPP Public Complaints Bureau (SUPP PCB) Chief Wilfred Yap was recently approached by concerned residents staying at Kong Phin Road who complained to him that they were not satisfied with the construction works on a section of the completed construction works for the upgrading of earth to concrete drains.

One of the residents surnamed Kon who spoke on the behalf of the residents had requested for a proper inspection by officers from Majlis Perbandaran Padawan (MPP) to ensure that the concrete used for the construction of the drains was in accordance with the specifications under the contract. The residents were also not happy with the workmanship of the construction works.

Following the complaint and request for assistance received, Yap had immediately highlighted and brought up the matter to the attention of the Majlis Perbandaran Padawan (MPP). The officer surnamed Chai from MPP in charge of the supervision of the construction works have requested the contractor to jointly inspect and assess the situation.

During the joint inspection at the construction site, MPP had instructed the contractor to conduct a “Coring Test” on the concrete used and the contractor had also agreed to carry out rectification works on their shoddy workmanship.

Yap who is also SUPP Kota Sentosa Chairman views the above matter seriously and will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that the construction works are carried out and completed in full compliance with the technical drawings and specifications under the contract for upgrading of drains works.

SUPP Public Complaints Bureau (SUPP PCB) and Kota Sentosa Chairman Cr Yap shall continue with the policy of “people above politics” and serve as the eyes and ears of our community and will continue to highlight and try to resolve issues or problems of public interest affecting the public.

Anyone who come across problems of public interest but does not know how to deal with it can always call SUPP Public Complaint’s mobile number at 016-7797688 or 082-246999 or go direct to SUPP Head Office to request for assistance.
