Federal cancelled septic tank projects in RPR Tondong and RPR Sibu Jaya
The septic tank replacement project at RPR Tondong and RPR Sibu Jaya in Sibu, in which funding was cancelled by Federal Ministry of Housing and Local government is now awarded to a new contractor through open tender by Sarawak Housing Corporation, disclosed Minister of Local government and Housing, Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian.
Dr. Sim said the cancelled project costing RM2 million is to be financed through the Sarawak State Government.
He said a letter was issued to them from the federal Ministry after the Pakatan Harapan (PH) announced the cancellation of the project in July.
Taking Deputy Domestic Trade and Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister, Chong Chieng Jen to task, Dr. Sim wonder how the former is ignorant of the fact and asked for evidences.
He said besides this projects, a number of other projects from local councils and Fire and Rescue services department are cancelled too.
“I hoped the PH will be responsible to the Sarawak people as we in the Sarawak government have to source for alternate funding to solve the infrastructure problems,” he added.
