Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh to step down
United People’s Party (UPP) president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh will step down after the current term.
This was announced today by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, who said the state Barisan Nasional (BN) had named Wong’s son Andrew, as the BN candidate for Sibu.
His son has since joined SUPP.
Abang Jo said all BN candidates are from the State BN component parties and there will be no direct candidate this round.
He said he is happy that SUPP and UPP has come to an understanding.
