Members urged to have confidence in party’s leadership
Dr Sim, when officiating at the party’s 58th anniversary dinner in Sibu on Friday, Urged members to have confidence in the party’s leadership.
“This party has been in existence for 58 years. It is still around because it is a people’s party and it fights for Sarawak and all Sarawakians,” he reminded all members.
Dr Sim said during the last state election, the party won seven of the 12 seats contested.
“Hopefully, the people will give their 100 per cent support to the party in the coming general election,” he said, adding that the party would field the best candidates.
He also hoped to see SUPP members of parliament coming from Sibu.
SUPP has 111,000 members across the state, with Bumiputeras making up about one-third, hence a multi-racial party.
The party’s vice-president II Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, who is Assistant Minister of Community Well Being, secretary-general Datuk Sebastian Ting, Bukit Assek branch chairman Chieng Buong Toon and Nangka branch chairman Chua Beng Seng were also at the gathering.
