砂拉越人民联合党站稳立场，即不同意委派国阵直属候选人出战来临埔奕州议席补选。 砂人联党主席拿督沈桂贤认为，倘若再次委派国阵直属候选人出战补选，那么国阵将被视为与反对党一样，不顾原则。 “我一直都强调，人联党不支持国阵直属候选人的方案，因为无论来自哪个政党，国阵直属候选人都必须从原属的政党退党。所以，相关候选人可以加入人联党出战，这至少维持国阵精神和原则。” 他表示，人联党将候选人的决定权交给国阵领袖决定。 他称，他本身已经将人联党的候选人名单提呈给首席部长拿督阿玛阿邦佐哈里。 埔奕州议席补选的提名日落在本月20日，而投票日在7月4日。

Harden: stay united behind party to remain strong
Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Simanggang branch chairman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis wants party members to stand behind the party to ensure it remains strong together with other Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties. 人联党积极招募年轻党员加入
砂人联党主席拿督沈桂贤鼓励年青男女踊跃加入人联党，该党目前40岁以下的党员占12巴仙，但是砂拉越人口统计数据显示，砂40岁以下的人口占68巴仙。 他指出，人联党目前共有11万1737名党员，犹如波音737飞机般精神高昂，壮志凌云，展翅高飞。 在11万1737名党员之中，女性党员占45巴仙、土著33巴仙。党员除了华裔和土著，还有印度族群及其他族群等员，这显示人联党自成立以来迄今，就是一个多元种族及不分宗教的政党。 他在砂人联党党总部主持该党58周年党庆上致词时指出，砂人联党在58年前的6月4日于诗巫成立，人联党老前辈的牺牲与奋斗，成就了人联党的强大后盾，党员必须向前辈们学习，他们就像一棵大树般保护着人联党。 他也勉励老、中、青党员一起配合，人联党未来就靠年轻人继续奋斗与努力，因此希望有更多的青年党员共同努力。 也是地方政府与房屋部长的拿督沈桂贤向青年党员喊话，希望通过他们招更多的年轻人加入人联党，现在人联党有很多的平台可提供给年轻人发挥。 人联党各个支部，无论是在城市地区、乡村地区都共同努力改革，选民在去年的砂选举中给了人联党机会，人联党在七个席位取得胜利，这只是一个开始。 他促请党中央、各支分部党员更加努力，因为选民给了人联机会，就是要看人联做的更好，不然就会失去机会。但愿在全体党员的努力之下，将所有20个席位赢回来，然后恢复人联党过去的辉煌岁月。 他形容石角选区目前只有他一个州议员，就像一台引擎，如果即将举行的国会选举能有多一个人联党候选人中选，就增加多一台引擎，像波音737飞机般更强大，飞的更快更高，帮助更多的人民，为砂拉越人争取的更多权益。 沈桂贤披露，人联党中央及各个支部将有“五年计划”，人联党非为了每一届的选举才做工，人联党平日也为砂拉越人争取权益、为砂拉越的政策做事。 “人联党的党员，无论是不是执委，都必须为人民做出贡献，党员发挥了力量，人联党将继续强大，这需要每个党员在政治思想上做好功课，党就能够强大，个人发挥才会更强大。”
