SPCB helping out in land dispute
SUPP Public Complaints Bureau (SPCB) was recently approached by a landowner at Sungai Moyan, Batu Kawa area, who complained that the adjacent landowner who owned a parcel of land in front of the complainant’s land have now refused to allow him a right of way to his land even though he has been using the road access over his neighbour’s land for a long time.
Following the complaint received, SUPP Public Complaints Bureau Chief, Wilfred Yap immediately went to inspect and assess the situation to find out what can be done to resolve the problem and the kind of assistance that can be rendered.
During the investigation, it was discovered that the access road currently leading to both parcels of land is not a government or council road. The road is constructed on land belonging to private landowners. The complainant’s neighbor is also currently using a road to access his land at the courtesy of other private landowners.
SUPP Public Complaints Bureau Chief Wilfred Yap have since requested the complainant to obtain letters from the other private landowners to the effect that if the complainant’s neighbour does not allow him a right of way, the other private landowners will likewise refuse to allow the complainant’s neighbour to use the access road leading to his neighbour’s land. After that, SPCB will formally write to the complainant’s neighbor to inform him of the other private landowners’ decision.
SUPP Public Complaints Bureau hopes that landowners will be caring and cooperative in situations of this nature.
In this particular case, the complainant’s neighbor is also using an access road constructed on other private landowner’s property and as such SPCB hopes that the complainant’s neighbor would in turn allow the complainant a right of way to resolve the matter.
