A successful operation for Athena

Athena Kho aged 2 had undergone a successful cochlear implant operation yesterday, said Secretary General of Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Dato’ Sebastian Ting.

Ting said according to the parents, Keven and Jenny Kho, their daughter was operated on by Dr Tang Ing Ping at 7.40 am and was out of the operation theater at 5.10 pm.

The plight of Athena was brought to Ting’s attention in November as the couple has five children and were not financially able to come up with RM140,000 for the operation.

Athena has hearing problem and if the operation was not done, she would not be able to hear or speak.

Ting had gone to the media to seek for donation to assist Athena’s operation and once in a while, he will keep the public posted of how much and from whom the donation came from.

By early December, he thanked the people for their kindness and said they had met the target they raised.

When Athena was admitted, Ting also paid a visit to them at the Sarawak general hospital to give them moral support.

Ting said Kevin had told him that they will be spending the New Year in Sarawak General Hospital and would wait for the Doctor’s advice on when Athena will be discharged.
