Funds raised at Kuching Festival Fair for charity organisations
A total RM50,177.60 has been raised from this year’s Kuching Festival Fair which will be presented to 14 charity organisations during a simple ceremony held at MBKS Amphitheatre on Thursday night.
Local Government and Housing Minister Senator Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, who officiated at the event, praised the organising committee for sharing the success of the event with the less-fortunate members of society even thought they may be in the city.
He hoped that Kuchingnites will continue to be generous to the less fortunate as charity is one of the key elements in retaining Kuching’s status as a liveable and happy place to live in.
He pointed out that by 2030, 15 per cent of Sarawak’s population would be those aged 60 years and above, and they would love to continue living in a happy environment.
