To share the raya festivity,  more than 10,000 people thronged the old State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building yesterday to attend the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nancy Shukry’s Hari Raya open house.

Among the state dignitaries who attended the event were Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Ragad Kurdi Taib, and Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg and wife Datin Amar Datuk Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang.

According to Nancy, the attendance at her Hari Raya open house this year was more than last year. She lauded the presence of people from various races who came to the event.

The presence of opposition members such as state DAP chief Chong Chieng Jen and DAP Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong, who came to greet Abang Johari and Nancy at the open house, also drew the attention of the public.

Also present were Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian and several other state ministers and assemblymen.
