Night run safety awareness campaign
The City Jogger’s Club (CJC) together with SUPP Pending branch will be organizing a night run safety awareness campaign.
The campaign is endorsed by Majlis Bandaraya Kuching Selatan (MBKS) and will be held at the foyer of MBKS building at 6:45PM Thursday July 13th 2017.
Members of the Public are welcome to join the campaign cum night run. A brief safety talk will be provided by the CJC’s president Mr Chan Boon Teck.
CJC runners run at the 2 designated routes designed specifically by the club with safety as priority.
Weather permitting , CJC members gather at MBKS foyer at 6:30PM every Thursday evening to begin their 7pm regular night run. Members of the Public are welcome to join the night run by being a CJC club member, or just drop in as a one-time runner.
Every run will have a RM3 fee for visitor, RM2 for member. Marshals are available during the night run to guide the runners and ensure their safety. Drink and fruit are provided by CJC.
The most updated running routes and schedule is published at the CJC’s Facebook page prior to the night run every Thursday.
As the CJC routes pass through several roads in Pending areas, SUPP Pending Branch, in conjunction with the safety awareness campaign, is sponsoring safety lights for all participant in the campaign on July 13th 2017.
SUPP Pending branch hopes to encourage similar sport activities in the Pending areas.
Runners however are advised to wear safety gears, and motorists are advised to watch for runners every Thursday night when passing through the roads used by the runners.
The ground floor of MBKS building is open every Thursday night to provide toilet facility and gathering place for the CJC night run. The City of Kuching South also provide venues such as MBKS basketball court at Bintawa, jogging trails at the MBKS garden and Friendship park to encourage residents to live a healthy lifestyle.
