Mediating for refund of failed tour
SUPP Public Complaints Bureau (PCB) was recently approached by a group of who requested for his assistance to secure the full refund of their payments to a local tour company. The individuals had already fully paid the local tour company for the tour to a foreign country.
SUPP PCB was informed that the tour did not proceed as planned due to last minute cancellation by the foreign tour operator and that his tour company was in the process of getting the refund of the payments his tour company had made to the foreign tour operator.
Following a negotiation/mediation, the parties agreed to allow the local tour company to make the refunds by four (4) monthly installment. The first installment of RM500.00 is to be made on the 30th June 2017 with two installment of RM750.00 and final payment of RM 1000.00 on the last day of each subsequent month.
The local tour company have made the first installment payment of RM500.00 on the 30th June 2017 and SPCB will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that the local tour company complies with what was agreed.
