YB Lo Press Statement 9 June 2017
Visit to Ms. Jap Jin Moi with Welfare Official at Jalan Tai Shin Jar.
Welfare cases involving mental illness can be among the most difficult and perplexing situations. And with another family member suffering from fit, it gets harder then it already is.
Today we visited an underprivileged family of 3, with staffs from Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat Sarawak.
This family of 3 is headed by the senior 72 yrs old Mr Jap Kiun Sin, an odd job worker who only earns his minimal wages if he gets a job offer for the day. His Wife, Mdm Chai Chin Fah 71 yrs old, suffering from mental illness was by his side. And his daughter, Ms. Jap Jin Moi 44 yrs old is suffering from fit.
Ms. Jap Jin Moi have to go to the hospital 4 times a month and this burden is also on the shoulders of senior Mr Jap.
We are helping both Mother and Daughter to apply for proper welfare support to help in their situation. And staff from Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat Sarawak also bought along a bag of basic food staples.
We are also trying to see how we can arrange with Hope Place founder Mr Kelvin Wan to offer this family their kind assistance.
Members of the public and corporations are encouraged to make donations to replenish the supplies at Hope Place Kuching’s storeroom.
Underprivileged group must seek proper assistance as there are appropriate departments to seek welfare assistance from.
