Last respect for the late Chief Minister
Thousands of people from all walks of life including dignitaries paid their last respects and bid farewell to the late Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem at Masjid Jamek in Petra Jaya here yesterday.
The funeral cortege, accompanied by Adenan’s widow Datin Patinggi Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu and family as well as state leaders and dignitaries, left Adenan’s residence in Santubong at 10.40am.
Also presented were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and wife Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib, Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah who were at the mosque.
Among the dignitaries who paid their last respects to Adenan were Transport Minister and MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Minister of Youth and Sports and Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and Chief Minister of Penang Lim Guan Eng.
Adenan was laid to rest at Samariang Muslim Cemetery after the Zohor prayer.
Adenan, 72, died at 1.20pm on Wednesday at the Sarawak Heart Centre, Kota Samarahan from heart complications.
