Rebuttal of Sarawak Report

Today Sarawak United Peoples’ Party issued a press statement pertaining to a Sarawak Report article on July 16 claiming that the prime suspects of Bill Kayong’s murder are closely linked to SUPP that:

(a) the Sarawak Report’s article on July 16 is a maliciously authored article with the sole intention to implicate SUPP in the tragic murder of Bill Kayong on June 21, 2016 in Miri. The Sarawak United People’s Party is furious that the Sarawak Report deliberately and maliciously put selective facts and baseless inferences together to tarnish SUPP’s credibility and public image. It was pointed out that previously the Party has openly condemned such acts of crime and demanded the police to expedite their investigation to bring the criminals to justice. It was reiterated that SUPP never believes in any assassinations be it political or non-political!

(b) SUPP stressed in its press statement that one of the prime suspects in Bill Kayong’s murder, namely Lee Chee Kiang is not a SUPP party member. Furthermore, there are more than 100,000 registered party members in SUPP, and it is always the Party’s stance that no one is above the law. Therefore if any party member is indicted for serious crime, such member will also be subject to the Party’s disciplinary actions, in addition to the laws of Malaysia.
