SUPP disappointed Sarawak lost a full minister post in recent cabinet reshuffle

SUPP  is disappointed that Sarawak has lost a full minister post in the recent cabinet reshuffle by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.  Sarawak had earlier lost a representative in the Cabinet with the resignation of Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas who has moved to the state as deputy chief minister.  Sarawak is a large state and has the highest number of BN MPs, many of whom are suitably qualified to hold a full minister post.

We acknowledge that appointment of Minister is the absolute discretion of the Prime Minister. However we would have preferred a status quo for the number of full minister post held by Sarawak MPs.

Nevertheless, we are delighted that Lawas MP Datuk Henry Sum Agong was appointed Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism . We are confident that he will serve the country and our people well.

We wish to congratulate Gerakan President Dato Sri Mah Siew Kiong on his appointment as Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities. Sarawak  has vast area of oil palm plantations. We hope that Dato Sri Mah will continue the good work done by Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas to help the oil palm industries in Sarawak and  a while before that by the former President of Supp, Tan Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui who was the Minister of Plantation Industries & Commodities from 2004 to 2009.
