程明智：麦当劳措施不适合用于砂拉越
砂首长署政治秘书程明智促麦当劳快餐管理层，勿将不允许顾客携带没有清真认证的蛋糕带入店的作法，延伸到砂各地的分行。 程明智发文告指出，该快餐管理层在西马实行的有关作法，并不适于砂拉越的多元文化和多元宗教，如果该快餐店要在砂分行相继实行，相信会引起非穆斯林的消费者来杯葛。 他强调，砂拉越各族和谐的精神，彼此之间都能包容不同的文化，这也是砂拉越的一大特色，以及砂各族人民的骄傲。 “砂拉越不允许有宗教极端的事件发生，因为这将会破坏砂拉越各民族间向来的团结，而砂政府也禁止西马的宗教极端分子，以及种族沙文主义分子踏足砂拉越。” 他说，麦当劳管理层在西马实施有关的作法，是引起一些人的不满，来发动群起杯葛，而这正是消费者本身的权力。据他所知，该快餐店目前只是在西马实施顾客需携带清真认证的蛋糕带入店，来为自己及亲友来庆生，此举是引发了相当争议。

Tiang: comment on McDonald’s policy that only halal certified cakes are allowed in
Michael Tiang, the political secretary for the Chief Minister of Sarawak released a press statement urging the management of McDonald’s not to extend their recent policy that it will only allow halal certified birthday cakes into their premises to Sarawak. Tiang reminded the management that such practice is totally incompatible with Sarawak’s multi-cultural and religious society.
