Dr Sim urged the setting up of Private International Chinese school

Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president Senator Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian is puting up a challenge to the Board of Chinese schools to set up a private international Chinese school here.

He said the state would have a very good opportunity when setting this up as they could offer intakes to students from Singapore and Indonesia.

He said in Singapore there is no Chinese school and the Chinese schools in Indonesia are not doing well.

With the setting up of the private international school, we can open the market for Singapore and Indonesian students here,” he said when opening the SK Chung Hua No 4 food fair held at the Padungan Community Hall yesterday.

Chairman of the management committee of Kuching Chung Hua Primary Schools No 1 to No 6, Wong Tiong Hock, was among those present.

The food fair was held to raise fund for the building of the primary school’s new building.

According to the organising chairman, who is also the chairman of building committee Jonathan Chai, the RM6million building project would be completed by middle of this year.

The new building will consist of eight classrooms, a multipurpose hall, a canteen and a staff room.

The school had managed to raise RM132,000 from tickets sales, and fund contribution of RM120,688.
