Community farming to help the urban poor

Logos-Hope has three (3) days voluntarily program with local community to do gardening on 21st, 22nd & 23rd  April 2015 at the Sg Apong Community Farmlet.

Nine members from Logos-Hope are hand in hand with farmers and local community to clean up, beautify and conduct vegetable planting.

This Community 3-Day  Project is the initiative of LOGOS HOPE Team, coordinated by Eunji Lee, Tania, Adeline of LOGOS HOPE, Fabian Wong of Society for Kuching Urban Poor (SKUP) and Mdm. Ling of SUPP Pending.

The community Farmlet at Sg. Apong is a joint venture community based farmlet with Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Pending Branch Chairman, Datuk Senator Dr Professor Sim Kui Hian as the Patron.

This community based farmlet has started since 2012. SUPP has been supporting this program, especially SUPP Women Wings and Councillor Tan Kai.

The Farmlet provides vegetables for the farmers for their own consumption and to earn extra supplementary income. It helps the participating families a lot.

It is hoped this program would be duplicated and setup at various locations in Southern Zone Sarawak, with the help of Sarawak Government to assist the urban migration population and urban poor group.
