SUPP against religious bigotry
SUPP secretary general, Dato’ Sebastian Ting vehemently condemns the Taman Medan protest against the display of crucifix on a church building yesterday. It was a seditious act done in the name of a religion. We are not challenging the integrity of any religions but we are condemning this act of bigotry.
It is an indisputable fact that the existence of one religion in this country is never a challenge to another religion. Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism and other religions have been practised in this country even before the formation of Malaysia.
Furthermore, We SUPP are also very much concerned about the recent growth of religious extremism and the development of IS in this country.
Sarawakians are expecting our Prime Minister and BN Cabinet to take a firm and open stand as to the true meaning of freedom of religion as provided in our Constitution. We BN shall not only promote 1Malaysia, we shall be the defender of 1Malaysia too.
