Proposed drainage system for school

Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap conducted a site visit to SK Satria Jaya BDC on April 16 to inspect and advance a proposed drainage piping system upgrading project under his Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2025 allocation.

He was accompanied by officers from the Public Works Department (JKR), the appointed implementing agency for the project, which has been approved with a funding allocation of RM89,000.

The visit followed a request from the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PIBG), which had raised concerns over persistent low water pressure affecting daily school operations. Subsequent technical assessments found that the existing water pumping system was no longer functioning effectively and required replacement.

Recognising the urgency of the issue, Yap secured the RTP 2025 allocation to address the problem and ensure a more reliable water supply system for the school.

He said the purpose of the visit was to work closely with JKR officers to finalise the project scope and Bill of Quantities before submitting the documentation to the Kuching Resident’s Office for the next stage of implementation, including contractor selection through the cabut undi process.

Yap stressed that access to clean and reliable water supply is essential, particularly in schools, as it directly affects the well-being and learning environment of students and teachers.

Yap added that he would continue to monitor the project closely to ensure its timely and effective implementation, in line with his commitment to addressing grassroots needs and improving the quality of life for residents in Kota Sentosa.
